Coming on TFR for Thursday, 4/30/09

Grammy & Academy Award-winning composer, pianist & conductor Andre Previn talks with us about his new opera, Brief Encounter, opening May 1 at the Wortham Center! We're also joined by librettist & director John Caird and soprano Elizabeth Futral & baritone Nathan Gunn, who star in this World Premiere production by Houston Grand Opera.

We have live music by Houston jazz saxophonist Woody Witt and guest drummer J.T. Bates from Minneapolis, previewing their upcoming show at AvantGarden.

And conductor Murray Sidlin & mezzo-soprano Melanie Sonnenberg talk about Verdi's Requiem, which is the centerpiece of the program, A Defiant Requiem, the season-finale concert by the Moores School of Music Symphony Orchestra and Choruses.
